Post Denmark Blues……

Dawn and I had a fabulous time last week.  We are slowly getting back into the swing of things.  I haven’t had a beer in 2 days…..

Anyway, we made it out of Aarhus without too much incident.  I had to lighten our load on Ryan Air.  I was a full kilo overweight on the luggage.  We spent the day and night walking around London.  I took Dawn to a cozy little French restaurant for our 5th anniversary dinner.  It was perfect.  Checked out the Tower Bridge at night, and headed back to the hotel to get some well needed rest.

We made it to Gatwick with only 15 minutes to spare before boarding.  When we arrived in Newark (late mind you) we discovered that they cancelled our connecting flight to Richmond.  So we were forced to stay at the Best Western in downtown Newark.  We were up again at 4:30 AM to make our way over to the airport and wait in line.  Once again we made it to the gate for our flight to start boarding at 7:30.  Yes you read that correctly, we were at the airport by 5:10 latest, and it still took almost 2 and 1/2 hours to get our luggage checked and through security.  What a joke.

After a few more flight delays we were back home in Richmond.  Dawn was practically running to give the kids hugs in the waiting area.  You can tell she was a bit homesick.

I spent the afternoon at work.  I need a beer already.

Will link up some photos soon.

D and I are lovin Nice. Heading to Eze tomorrow and then off to switzerland. During my spa treatment today I got a sudden knot in my stomach when I realized thatour month is almost halfway over. The obligations of work flooding over me. So at the end of the spa treatment they had a “refreshing” high pressure shower lined up. Very cool but both d and I felt like horses in a stable while the treatment girl stood at the end behind a plexiglass windoe with a pressure hose giving you a lymphatic hose down. Had me hold my breasts to protect them. Can’t wait to see what a swiss spa is going to do to us!

What an awesome week! It was great to see friends from near and far gathering to celebrate Danish style. I’ve looked at my pictures and I’m not impressed (I’m also not surprised). I’m getting ready to post mine on our site, but I really need to weed or many many people will get angry with me. Please post your pictures so I can pilfer.

Same here Ally. I’m glad there was a professional photographer, because I didn’t get very many shots in the church. Low light plus no flash makes for a lot of blur.

I uploaded half of my shots to Flickr last night. After I’m done Ill provide links here.

All I gotta say is my wife is amazing. Of course, she had the right lens. So let me take all the credit for my lens buying talents…

Not a lot from the ceremony itself but I think you’ll like some of the reception photos. Coach me on this flicker thing and I’ll work on it tonight.

We drove to Hamburg after the wedding and spent 2 nights at our friend Andreas & Mariah’s, basically relaxing. The flight back wasn’t so bad, and now we’re in Charleston, hanging out with Meghan’s dad. We both have colds, but I can’t think of a better place to recover than the air-conditioned lull of Isle of Palms. Things happen at a pretty slow pace here, which for the last two days have treated me fine. Can’t believe its been a year since we all took over that crazy house on Palm Court… and how much has happened in that 12 months. Been quite a year, hasn’t in?

We go home tomorrow, miss you all.

Must admit it felt pretty empty, with all of you gone by Saturday. Thank you so much for coming though. It would not have been the same without all of you. Never had my camera out last week, so I am checking every day to see who post pictures. Please, I need visuals…..

Denis is taking more video than I can handle. I am aiming for fifty pictures a day on my camera. If only the batteries will last.

Neel and Meghan, you are very welcome. We enjoyed having you. Need a little help though, have promised pictures of the Danish Cornucopia Wedding Cake, and I didn’t take a one. Anyone have pictures. I know Nicole said she took some, anybody else? Lot of love to all of you.

  12. Benthe (Michelle's Mom) Says:

Hey Alli, Your pictures are great. Thanks for adding those. Love you.

  13. Ally Says:

I have a picture of the cornucopia and my pictures are on my site. I still have more weeding to do. Man, I take horrendous pictures. If you want to see lots of really bad and unflattering pictures of your friends, log on to my site. I’ll post the link when I’m done weeding. I’ve gone from 250+ pictures to about 140.

I think I’m at my final collection unless someone asks me to pull more.

I would like to say that the pictures of the dress do not show fully how bad it was… the detail shot with my hand was BLACK like coal. I think the flash bled out the darkness. Did I mention I’m not so good with a camera? I would also like to thank the Tribe and mom’s again for contributing to the dry cleaning. Since I’ve returned to the states, I’ve taken it again to be cleaned. This time there was much less stress, I could actually smile.

Woke up at 4:18 this morning after being unable to resist falling asleep at 6pm after our return home. The first thing I did was check AZF2K and love all the pics. Totally awesome! I’ve got some to add to… as soon as I find my camera cable in our very messy house.

Barry and I hopped on a train for Belgium Saturday morning after the wedding, the train was long but travelling with Baz is fun. Our train got delated by a couple hours and we missed the last train to Brusseles - ended up spending a night in Cologne. Not a bad place to find yourself stuck. Incredible cathederal and waterfront old European town. The next morning we headed to Brugge and spent a couple days there. BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE in Belgium… not to mention the real Belgiun waffles.

Then we spent a week in Paris. It was planned as 4 days, but we couldn’t reserve the train for the next leg of our trip and had to stay a little longer. It’s a good thing we did because there was so much to do my feet were throbbing every night. I knew we had to slow down the pace a little when I woke up in the monring with throbbing feet.

Things were warm and lovely in Provence. We toured around, had lots of wine. In fact, wine is cheaper than water there. After a few days we drove down to the beaches on the Costa Brava in Spain. Holy sh** the drivers in that area agressive. Baz did a great job driving. Once we got to the town Cadaques, it was all relaxation. We rented a little boat and parked (moored?) it in a cove where we picknicked and snorkled in the Mediterranean. A lovely and relaxing last few days.

We flew out of Barcelona yesterday. We only had a day there but if you want to party some time got to BCN! La Rambla is a huge street fair/party that is going on all of the time, though we went to bed early. And the buildings are very odd and funky. We especially dug the Gaudi Park.

Oh, so yesterday I set my alarm but forgot to turn it on. We got up an hour late for our early morning flight and managed to run to the gate as the last folks were boarding. Changing over to a US bound flight in Munich was lit being in a future shock movie. I can’t even remember how many security checks I went through.

Back at home. Birds are finally awake and signing. It’s nice and cool out. Going to pick up the kitties today.

I had such a wonderful time in Denmark. It was the best party ever. Love you guys!
