I realize it has been a while since I’ve posted; so here is the run down.
1. the move went pretty smooth all things considered, the family was very supportive
2. Hiring from the temp. office has been fun. Between interviews and references; I must have personally called half of Connecticut.
3. Our apartment is the exact opposite of what we had in S.F. It is really roomy, quiet and inexpensive. It has a dishwasher.
4. Jen is getting huge. As soon as we get our CT. doctor squared away we will have more details.
5. I’m about to go to a full retail schedule, and the next/last weekend I have is posted above. With that said, Where do we go? Who is in? I don’t think Jen can back pack right now, a load bearing hip belt might not be the most conducive to child bearing at the moment. But we are open to every state in New England.
6. There will be friends and family night and a big grand opening celebration here in West Hartford, let me know if you want to come and get some free stuff.

I don’t think I’m getting HUGE. We’ll get pictures up soon.

Lester is SO insensitive!
September 28th, 2007 at 9:14 am
I love autumn camping!
I’d be up for camping that weekend, but we already agreed to go apple picking that weekend. But, we might be able to reschedule apples. How definite is camping? What would the plan be?
September 28th, 2007 at 10:41 am
I wish we could go…..
September 28th, 2007 at 1:14 pm
Damn…I’m camping that weekend in PA….along with my big truck of course!
Does the Poconos count as new England?
September 29th, 2007 at 11:23 am
Apple picking could be fun. Could it turn into an overnighter?
Wheeling in PA? I love my subscription to JP magazine, Norm I have to come down to have you install a lift on my TJ
September 30th, 2007 at 4:28 pm
You could bring the truck and we can wheel that for the weekend……
mine is in the shop. Bearing went out in the transfer case and I don’t know if I’ll get it back together before the trip. I have to go regardless, it’s my 4×4 club putting on the event, and I’m the Club Treasurer. God I feel like it’s a conclave or something…

ohh okay, this is why you were all crabby when I called to see if you wanted to go splitting wood that weekend.
Michelle and Nichole have planned a block party for that Saturday afternoon. Gideon and I were planning on chopping wood for the elder to weather the winter, that Saturday morning.
I sure would like to get one last trip in with the largest tent and cooler around. Why is october so busy. It’s a good weekend for folliage (sp?), Car camping sounds like a must. Hmm what locale would be perfect for that ?? thinking…. pondering… I will post again later with some suggestions, after I pester michelle into trying to move the block party.

It sounds good except for a few minor details;
1. Pregnant wife in a jeep.I can’t really leave her behind either, and she would so love to hang around the end of the course with a bunch of new faces.
2. my jeep is stock, I don’t even have A/T tires on it.I have a come along not a winch, I will be laughed out.
Yes Denis, that is my last real “weekend” for the year, it is nothing personal but I really treasure the ones I get, so I can spend time with people that aren’t in the retail world. So doing chores on my last one this year sounded a little like an irksome task. When I was really looking for a fun overnighter. I’m open to ideas.

Looks like I might be coming to Hartford for business on Tuesday the 9th. Any change the Friends & Family event is then? Either way, I’d love to see you guys when I come up. I’ll call you when I find out my meeting schedule.
Ooh, and this is where we’re apple picking: http://www.maskers.com/
Ya’ll are welcome to join us. (I wonder what Michelle would do with 100 pounds of apples.) Any good camping nearby?

Unfortunately Friends and family is on Halloween. Our store is still under construction. We should move in the week of the fifteenth. Jen of course will be home, splitting cells.

Dearest friends and family,
In an attempt to work something in for everyone, we thought we might like to post a couple of options.
1)Harriman state park in NY. http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/info.asp?parkID=143
I am sure they must have some good sites. It is close to the location Tobi posted for apple picking and it is a reasonable traveling distance for all. We saw that there is a tentative date for the Hudson Valley Orienteering Club at lake Sebago.
2)come over, split wood, hang out for a block party and camp out on our Yo dude, awesome green lawn. We’ll build a fire big enough to draw the attention of the Vista Volunteer fire dept. We can do some pumpkin carving and throwing.
3) your option.
Most sincerely yours,
MST

ooooooooohhhhhhh Harriman SP
I haven’t been there in 100 years, I loved the lemon squeezer as a kid. We could bring some rock gear.
October 2nd, 2007 at 5:43 am
Just got word….my truck may be up and running again…..no need to wheel your Jeep Lester. Besides it’s going to get laughs just because it’s a Jeep….
October 2nd, 2007 at 8:58 am
I was just checking out the Harriman State Park website and noticed their policy on pets.
“Dogs only, must be muzzled and on a leash not more than 6 feet. Not allowed in buildings, camping, picnic or bathing areas or on walkways.”
I’m racking my brain to figure out what a dog CAN do at Harriman. If you can’t bring them on the walkways, then I suppose that means you have to trek through the woods, so as to avoid the paths. But wait a minute, what about those “Stay on the path” signs?
Horses are pretty intimidating when you come up to them on the path. I say we ban all animals from state parks.
Wait.
October 2nd, 2007 at 10:16 am
I think when they say pathways that they mean paved paths, like sidewalks in the woods, that are handicapped accessable.
Horses are usually scary; if your not afraid of a several thousand pound animal that spooks easily, then you’re dumb.
Dogs, have a tendency to scare off other wildlife. Being close to New York City, people who bring their pets are usually not … uhh …. conservation minded. So when the music from the car stereo dies down, and the pitbull begins barking cause the owner is scared of well, wildlife, it can be a bit irksome.

OK were in. Let’s make it happen.
I’ll bring the muzzles.
October 2nd, 2007 at 4:18 pm
I will call tomorrow about a campsite.
I have Lester, Jen, Denis, Michelle, Tobi, Barry (Tobi and Barry’s friends?),Nichole, Rob, Jen, Jen’s boyfriend. Does anyone know if Drew is around? Carly likes to camp.
We are doing a Friday and Saturday night stay right?
Food ideas? chocolate fondue went over really well last time…. Hmmmm Apple crisp???, Sorry I always plan menus starting with dessert. Brownies, cheese and fruit for Friday night? Bacon? (Aaron that one was for you, can you hear Lester cursing me?!!!), pork ribs, mac and cheese, homemade baked beans (with bacon!!)?? Stew with crusty bread, Beer can chicken with roasted fall veggies? Mulled cider?, rum?
October 2nd, 2007 at 4:21 pm
Lester, would your friend from Mass want to join. I will also call Hemal and Harry. They keep saying they want to come camping.
October 2nd, 2007 at 7:58 pm
Friday may be a bit much. But we’ll look into it. I’ve already shot Edgar an e-mail.
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:12 am
Awesome!
Our friends will probably just be joining us for apple picking (not for camping).
Climbing is good. Apple crisp is good (as long as we’re not sick of apples by the end of the day). Are you guys coming picking?
I need to look closer at the deal for getting up there before I commit to Friday night.
October 3rd, 2007 at 2:52 pm
We’re in Montreal until Tuesday. Its only a 6 hour drive. There are a lot of cool fall colors and we have an apartment all to ourselves…
I know, its mostly wishful thinking…
October 3rd, 2007 at 6:01 pm
I called Reserve America today. Fees for camping are $16 a night. The sites that are right on the lake are all taken so we will be off the lake a bit. I need to have a better idea of who plans to join us on Friday night after work and who is showing up on Saturday so that I reserve the right amt of sites and keep our cost down. Please let me know as soon as you can.
thx
October 3rd, 2007 at 6:14 pm
We’re in for Friday night.
But Montreal?………..
Climbing? or some spelunking
October 4th, 2007 at 4:04 am
No one wants to go orienteering?
October 4th, 2007 at 6:52 am
Is orienteering in the same camp area?
October 4th, 2007 at 11:25 am
the orienteering is about five miles down the road. if you look on a map you’ll see beaver pond campground off of welch lake, and the orienteering is off of lake sebago. a short drive away.
Ohh and Les, I went to the lemon squeezer maybe two years ago, with my scouts. Its pretty far in trail, and not as big as you remember. I thought that it might be a good spot for climbing till I got there. Call me we can talk about it.
October 8th, 2007 at 6:32 am
Any thoughts on meals? dietary restrictions? desire to go shopping or do meal planning? We booked the sites yesterday. We are okay to go.
ok to go!
Ok to Go!
