If anyone* is interested in getting a sweet Apple desktop at a screaming deal, let me know.
The Stanford Bookstore is currently selling PowerMac G5s (single-processor models) bundled with a 17″ monitor starting with the 1.6GHz for $999. They also have G4s with a monitor for $899.
Update: The single-processor units are sold out now. (That was quick). There are two dual-processor bundles left.
- PowerMac G5 - 1.8GHz, 512MB RAM, 160 GB HD, Superdrive, NVIDIA GEForceFX 52000 w/64MB, 17″ Studio Display - $1549
- PowerMac G5 - 1.8GHz, 512MB RAM, 160 GB HD, Superdrive, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro w/ 64MB, 17″ Studio Display - $1620
If I was in the market for a desktop right now, you wouldn’t be seeing this post, because I’d be figuring out how to lug a G5 home on my bike.
This offer will only be good while supplies last and they usually limit purchases in these sales to one per staff member.
So…
First come, first served.
* By “anyone”, I do mean friends and family

I swiched to a Mac a year and a half ago. I wanted a laptop and Apple laptops are the best.
I’ll never go back.
